Rocking chair

What are you most proud of? I really love the twill fabric! And I'm proud that I managed to get the whole thing done in time. ;) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Sample sample sample! Try some variations you're not planning to use, just to see what they'll do. It wasn't until after I'd woven all the fabric for the chair that I tried a straight draw treadling and realized that I liked the zigzags that made even better than the diamonds I'd woven. Also, unless you have experience, get a professional upholsterer to work with your fabric. I'd have been really disappointed to spend all the time and energy on making beautiful fabric only to mess it up with an amateur upholstery job.

Q&A with Janet Dawson

knitupastorm asked:
Wow, you did a magnificent job. I was looking at the throw and it clearly says the rocking chair. lol
Janet Dawson answered:
I wove the throw, too! I did that one with a friend on a 90" wide loom that requires two weavers to operate.
DeAnnW asked:
Absolutely Beautiful! You have inspired me, I'm off to sample. :)
Janet Dawson answered:
Hooray!
frodosmom asked:
Gorgeous! I love your patterns and colors.
Janet Dawson answered:
The colors were chosen to match my living room. I designed the stripes based on the Fibonacci sequence. :)
Blissfullyknit asked:
Wow, what a transformation! That is quite inspiring Janet! Thanks so much for sharing your talent and teaching skills, I've enjoyed your course and learned a few things.
Janet Dawson answered:
I'm so glad! Was there one thing in particular you were excited to learn?
isbeaddazzled asked:
I LOVE both the rocking chair covering and the pillows.... I want to copy! :-) When you say above: " It wasn't until after I'd woven all the fabric for the chair that I tried a straight draw treadling and realized that I liked the zigzags that made even better than the diamonds I'd woven. " Can you post a picture of what it looked like in a straight draw? Thanks!
Janet Dawson answered:
I'm trying to add a pic of the zigzag but it keeps timing out. :( Oh! There's a picture of it in my Ravelry project: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/janetdawson/rocking-chair/photos
