Meet expert dyer Sarah Eyre and begin by going over the tools you'll need to get started. Sarah explains how to dye safely, before diving into the science behind acid dyeing.
Achieve beautiful color transitions by knitting with gradients! In this lesson, see how to dye a set of gradient skeins, then work a gradient on a single skein using a sock blank.
Dyeing sock blanks unlocks a world of new possibilities. Find out how to apply stamping, self-striping and sprinkling techniques to create one-of-a-kind yarns. Then, experiment with your own techniques!
Self-striping yarns require a bit more set up to dye, but they're worth the extra effort! Sarah shares the best ways to use self-striped yarn, then walks you through the dyeing process step by step.
Hand-painted yarns are extremely popular among indie dyers. Learn why as you follow a few simple steps to hand-paint your own skeins at home! You'll create gorgeous colorways that are perfect for any fiber project.
Acid-dyeing isn't just for yarn! In this final lesson, Sarah reveals the best way to handle and dye fiber, and even offers special considerations for washing, rinsing and drying.
