The three-wedge shawl uses the same construction techniques as the triangle shawl with extra stitches being worked in the garter tab cast on to accommodate for an additional wedge. In this session, Jen demonstrates how to knit a three-wedge garter stitch shawl.
In this session, Jen shows how to knit a heart-shaped shawl. She discusses how the increases are worked and compares it to the original triangle shawl.
Crescent shawls are perfect for those times when you want to make a shawl out of one precious skein of yarn. Jen demonstrates how to knit a garter stitch crescent shawl in this session.
In this session, Jen explains how to work a half pi shawl in garter stitch and also reviews all the shawl shapes learned in this class.
Having a loose bind off is critical in your top-down knitting journey. In this session, Jen demonstrates two of her favorite bind offs for top-down shawls – the k2tog tbl bind off and the elastic bind off.

Description

Top-down shawls are a popular shawl construction that has been used to create all kinds of beautiful and unique projects. There are lots of ways that you can construct these accessories, and in this course, Jen Lucas, shawl designer and author of the book Top-Down Shawls, walks you through five popular top-down shawl shapes. The course begins with an introduction to shawl knitting and the garter tab cast on is demonstrated. From there, Jen takes you on a shawl journey, explaining how to knit a triangle shawl, a three-wedge shawl, a heart-shaped shawl, a crescent shawl, and a half pi shawl. The shawls are all worked in garter stitch, which allows for relaxing knitting while trying new shawl shapes. Knit them all and let us know which one is your favorite!
