Zippered experiment hoodie

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Making it into a zippered hoodie. I needed to be able to get in and out of it quickly. It's such an easy project to modify and play with. I also lined the hood. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Watch the class. Meg has some good pointers and takes the scary out of it all. This class is fab.

I like the fact that you lined the hood. When I make one that's what I want to do also. I am also a fan of zippers. Nice job!!!
Rehya answered:
Thank you. I can't wait to make the next one.
PerlenDiva asked:
Really cool, especially the patches ;-) Did you stabilize it somehow before putting in the zip? Would love to learn more about that.
Rehya answered:
Hi. Yes, to make it easier, I just used a straight stitch down both sides of the center front, about 1/4 inch in from the edge. I did not have any problems with stretching while adding the zipper. You could also use steam a seam strips. They are thin enough it wouldn't make sewing through the extra "layer" too bad.

Very nice version of the hoodie. I was asked to make it a zip-up but don't possess the skill, yet.
Rehya answered:
Thanks, zippers aren't too hard. "Sew mama sew" has an excellent tutorial on installing zippers.
