Starlet Suit Jacket in Plaid

Project Description

What are you most proud of? One of my sewing resolutions for 2012 was to make a jacket with a lining! So, one of my sewing resolutions has been met. Yay! I also learned to do bound buttonholes (mine are a little wrinkly, but still!), welt pockets, lining a jacket, pad-stitching, and using hair canvas. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Hmm... For garment courses, I say watch through all the videos first. Make sure your fabric is appropriate for the project and try to buy good fabric that you'll want to wear. It's a shame to go through all that work and hand-tailoring for a garment that will fall apart. Oh! And, princess seams make it nigh on impossible to match plaids above the waistline... so, think twice before choosing a plaid for this project.

What you will need

  • 100% Wool
  • acetate lining
  • gabardine leftovers for piping

Ow wow! Very pretty! Prachtig.. Where in Amsterdam do you buy fabric?
adriprints answered:
@MorriganW, I just saw your response. I bought my fabric at the Albert Cuyp Markt. There's a high-end fabric shop where they sometimes sell bolt-ends for 50% off.
