Q&A with KID_MD

Art Attack 024 asked:
These are looking good. I am having the same problem you are in the front with too much ease right under the waistband. I took some darts in the waistband at the seams on either side of center, zeroing out at the top of the waistband. Then on the corresponding seams I tapered down 4-5" to zero in the other direction. It helped and I'm going to do the same in the back. Did you try on the waistband prior to attaching it to the pants? When I did mine fit fine at the waist but then ruffled out at the bottom hence the darts. Hope this helps!
KID_MD answered:
Yes!! That is exactly what happened with my waistband! I'm actually thinking I'm going to switch it out for a straight waistband and see if that isn't better, but I really like the dart idea too, as it seems like you would get a more precise fit that way. Thanks!!
Beryleni asked:
Wow, did you measure yourself correctly? I think you are smaller than you think you are. I'm glad that you have already started, that makes me more conscious of measuring.
KID_MD answered:
I had that thought too! I generally use a size smaller than my measurements in Big 4 patterns, as I find they always have too much ease. I wanted to give this one the benefit of the doubt, but it looks like it is the same. Boo - back to European and Indie patterns for me.
