Christmas pillow covers

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I quilted the background of the tree and bulb pillow covers before I appliqued the designs on the front. This adds texture and richness and I love the look. Use any favorite decorative stitch on your machine, use your quilting foot and that little rod that attaches so you can sew in even rows. Wonderful results! What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's very easy, go for it! I stitched a few strips together, then cut the V shape for the tree. Same with the bulb - sew a few strips together, then cut out the circle. I stitched the raw edges with a decorative stitch. I made 2 of the striped pillow covers, one tree and one bulb and covered the pillows on my sofa and chairs in the living room - wow! It was a great holiday look. Now to find something to cover them for spring! The back is two overlapping pieces of fabric with the overlapping edges hemmed. Lay them RST with front of pillow, sew all around and turn inside out through the overlapping opening. You just can't get easier than this!
