This pattern is made to resemble a plush version of a fried takoyaki or octopus ball. This is a Japanese snack of a ball of batter filled with octopus that is then fried and covered in a delicious sauce with bonito flakes for a topping. This plush is made from fleece, so it's a great project for beginners and comes out looking especially smooth and soft. The project requires some skill in applique, but the pattern includes an entire section on how to sew the applique features in lots of different ways that will fit your skill level! Items made with this pattern can be used for both personal and commercial use as long as you credit my website, :) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Fusible web applique Darts Curved sewing Embroidery Ladder stitch Intricate sewing; tight corners SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 4" x 4" x 4"

Recommended with this pattern

  • 2" x 2" scrap of black applique fabric
  • White fabric paint

Sew Desu Ne?
Sew Desu Ne?
Hello! My name is Choly Knight and I'm a seamstress of over 15 years from Orlando, Florida. I've been sewing since middle school and have yet to put my machine away. I'm the author of several craft books from Fox Chapel Publishing, including Sew Kawaii!, the Sew Me! series, Craft Projects for Minecraft, and more to come! I studied Art and English in college, so it's been a dream come true getting to work in a field that lets me combine my passions for writing, fine art, and craft art. I'm deeply inspired by Asian and Japanese art and craft as well as anime and kawaii style. The anime community has been more supportive than anyone as I ventured to learn to sew, so you'll find my designs are heavily influenced by that style.
