Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Kakudo Link to website or photo www.konabay.com/mm5/complimentary_patterns/Kakudo.pdf What are you most proud of? She loved it! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just enjoy the process and don't be afraid to change fabrics if the overall look doesn't work. I sewed the first four rows, then re-evaluated my fabrics, swapped one out and started over and I love the finished look.

Could a beginner do this quilt ?
threebeansalad answered:
This quilt has some of the best directions I have ever seen. Click on Kakudo above or http://www.konabay.com/mm5/complimentary_patterns/Kakudo.pdf and print out all the directions. It's made with snowballs and half square and quarter square triangles which are basic quilting blocks. You will need a design wall (mine is a flannel-backed tablecloth tacked to the wall) to lay out the pieces but I really think anyone with patience and care can make this. I had a blast putting it together. The hardest part was picking the fabrics and then matching them to the pattern to figure out which was a substitute for which. Give it a shot!
Teresa Nixon asked:
What skill level is your quilt? awesome colors nice job
threebeansalad answered:
This could be a confident beginner quilt. The only blocks are 1/2 square triangles and 1/4 squares. The directions are very detailed and easy to follow. http://konabay.com/mm5/complimentary_patterns/Kakudo.pdf
