Papaw's Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This quilt was my first "real" gathering of blocks and ideas. And, a great opportunity to use what I had learned from Kaye England's class. I really truly love this quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take Kaye England"s class for some great tips, instructions and inspiration. Even "seasoned" quilter's will pick something up from her class.

What you will need

  • cotton fabrics
  • thread
  • batting

What a beautiful quilt. I loved Kaye's class also. I finished my quilt top but haven't quilted it yet. Looking at some quilting classes on craftsy to get the courage to try fmq myself. I am so inspired by your beautiful work! And what a nice story about how this one came to be!
theoldcrow answered:
Your Civil War quilt is gorgeous! Two fmq classes that I could recommend are Leah Day's and Cindy Needham. Both are most excellent with instruction. I learned a great deal from both of their techniques BEFORE they came to Craftsy.
Emafish asked:
This is a really lovely quilt. What a beautiful design - it is so harmonious! I also loved Kaye's class and I am so impressed by your inspired design - it is reminiscent of the civil war quilt in the class but so completely your own!
theoldcrow answered:
Thank you. I agree- it does have a "Kaye" inspired feel to it. It is a favorite quilt of mine...Papaw's quilt.
