Machine Quilting Sampler

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I got the walking foot attached and working properly, and really like my results. The free-motion seems to work best for me if I do things that have both curves and point, and don't need to be symmetrical - the vine is the best, I think. Smooth curving stippling is going to take a lot more work! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Leap in and have a go - and only compare yourself to your first ever try - not to the experts who've been doing this for 30 years! And when it's done, give it a purpose - whether it's a wallhanging, a potholder, a toy, a table protector, a knee rug for an elderly person or a kneeling-in-the-muddy-garden mat, it has a value and deserves being used.

What you will need

  • 4.5" fabric squares x 25; 24" square piece for back; 22" square batting; white sewing thread; walking foot
  • darning foot
  • various leftover coloured bobbins
  • pink cotton bias binding
