Hometown Twist

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The ease of using this ruler. I kind of feel like I cheated because the quilt was so simple to make and it turned out so nice. I free motion stitched on the border only. The rest of the quilt was completed using only straight stitches. This would be the perfect project for a beginner who is confident with using a rotary cutter and stitching in the ditch. What advice would you give someone starting this project? You end up with a lot of 4" square scraps after cutting out the twists. I used several of those scraps to create the connector strip to piece the back of the quilt. However, the scraps are pretty good sized, so you could easily use them as blocks on the border strips. They could also be incorporated in the binding or the corners. You will have plenty of scraps to work with.

What you will need

  • Hometown layer cake (Moda/Sweetwater)
  • yardage for backing
  • batting
  • and a Twister Ruler.
