Go Hawkeyes!! Patchwork Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This was the first quilt I used any triangles! It was a big jump for me in my quilting. This was also the quilt I first tried applique even though it was that good!! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid of many loud prints. No matter what you do, it will all come together!

What you will need

  • Iowa Hawkeye Fabric and other Black and Yellow fabrics.

Q&A with jayweb

bdawg asked:
Love it! I'm a Georgia Bulldog. Been collecting all the UGA fabric waiting for just the right pattern. I think I found it!
jayweb answered:
Cool!! Good Luck!!
bdawg asked:
jayweb, just wondering if you had a pattern or made your own?
jayweb answered:
No I did not use a pattern and rarely do. I looked around and found squares I liked and merged it into what it is. I used 8 fabrics and tried to have some squares that were more yellow and some that were more black!
SKEENA asked:
This is great! I am going to be making my dad a blanket with fabric of the Big Ten college football teams' logos and this is a great pattern! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
jayweb answered:
Great!! Good luck and make sure to most it on here!! :)
Lindas744663 asked:
Do you have a written pattern for the Hawkeye quilt?
jayweb answered:
No. I picked out free 12in patterns or adapted others that were smaller. I normally do not use patters. I cut out the letters after ironing on a fusable stablizer and tracing a large letter. I like to call myself a scrapy, self-taught quilter.
