Project

First chain saw block

Project Description

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be sure blocks are accurately sized

What you will need

  • Used 10" squares from Guild exchange. Always be careful when doing this because 10" isn't the same to everyone. Also tried it with 5" squares from exchange and not as successful. Cuts were made at 1 1/4". I think it could work well but will cut my own squares when I try again.

Q&A with oceanquilter

PRESCOJAN659107 asked:
I LOVED THE PRINTS YOU USED. IT APPEARS TO BE EASY WITH CAREFUL WORK. I AM A BEGINNER QUILTER AND I THINK THIS PATTERN WILL HELP ME TO CUT OTHER SHAPES BESIDES SQAURE. HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT LEARNING HOW TO DO FIRST CHAIN SAW BLOCK?
oceanquilter answered:
You absolutely can do this. The prints are from a 10" block exchange at my Guild. I wanted to be sure I liked the technique before cutting up much loved fabric. I like it well enough I am doing an entire CA King cover. I learned the technique by taking the Magical Jelly Roll Quilts Class on line here at Craftsy. I really recommend it and there are many other blocks and techniques as a part of the class.
