bordered diamonds in indigo and white

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I think it looks ok but of course I have not yet quilted it. this is a large queen size quilt which I am attempting to do on my home sewing machine-I hesitate and procrastinate but my daughter is getting impatient. Will post the finished quilt on bed when done. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have lots of choice in fabric if you want the scrappy look. Trim diamonds before trying to sew them all together. I did not use his templates but cut using my ruler and it was soooo much simpler.

What you will need

  • cottons of various makers
  • japanese indigo imports
  • cotton batting and backing

Q&A with mimis quilts

Ladymax asked:
Another great project. I would be like your daughter, impatient to have it finished.
mimis quilts answered:
yes but can I really manouver that sucker around my small machine?? The diamonds are 17 inches high so I can not just do a stitch in ditch thing. hmmm
befney asked:
beautiful fabrics! a real stunner. I can see this as stitch in the ditch diamonds and then little pearl buttons sewn in the centers
mimis quilts answered:
good idea-I already thought I would stitch in ditch-I have not shown the back which is a quilt it self so I need to think of what it will look like there. hmmm
Surfside6 asked:
I like the things you have added to the site, but this one is my favorite. Colors are beautiful. Nice choices, Mimi
mimis quilts answered:
Thank you-I think blue and white has been my favourite combination since I was a kid.
