2013 BOM June

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I did the Y seams! There is an alternate construction in Kimberly Einmo's class, Magical Jelly Roll Quilts. It actually does lay flat (I've got it draped across a chair back in photo) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use sizing or starch on fabric before cutting diamonds - those bias edges won't be quit so wiggly!

Q&A with Darns

NanaJeanFL asked:
Oh Darns! This one is so feminine. I love the greys you're using. This is going to be a lovely modern quilt.
Darns answered:
Thanks so much, Jean! I've already done the flying geese and am trying to decide what to do instead of the basket block. Applique basket & flowers are just not my thing. What do you think about substituting some fused overlapping circles?
mpac5000 asked:
Darns, your quilt is going to be so pretty.
Darns answered:
Thanks, mpac5000! I'm hoping it turns out like I'm envisioning.
Projectpam asked:
So pretty! Can't wait to see it all done!
Darns answered:
Thank you, Pam!
bumblebee78 asked:
Love your colors
Darns answered:
Thank you!
JHart asked:
This is lovely! I've been to chicken to try this one. Hope to get some sewing time on Sunday. May jump in and do this one!! Good job and I agree with the others nice color choices!!
Darns answered:
Give it a try! The Y seams aren't that tricky - just follow the instructions carefully.
