I was excited to find this quick and easy quilt pattern in a magazine because I could use up a lot of scrap fabric, and I could practice free motion quilting with rulers on my domestic sewing machine. There are two types of 6-1/2 inch blocks (a 9-patch and a snowball), and there are inset triangles for the borders (6-1/2" block cut in half for sides, and in fourths for the corners). The blocks are pieced on-point. After piecing the quilt together, I quilted the 9-patch and center of the snowball blocks on my QuiltMotion machine. I echo stitched around the bears in the snowball block. Rulers were used to stitch in the ditch; to stitch in the small triangles on the four corners of the snowball blocks, and to quilt mini clamshells in the borders. I definitely need more practice with the rulers, but this small project gave me a lot of practice on an actual project.
