I love the look of string quilts and the idea that they work well with scraps. The word 'string' refers to a narrow strip of fabric. The supplies here ask for fat quarters, but can just as well be made with scraps you already have. Make sure you have enough 10" long pieces for the longest string needed; of course they get shorter as you work across the triangle. Tip for selecting the background: get together your fat quarters or scraps in a pile, then see what one color goes best with all of them together, then select a solid or nearly solid of that color. Other options: I chose from my collection of Texas wildflower fabrics, maybe you have a collection that you've been wondering what to do with. Or start a holiday collection to use; Halloween prints with a black background, or Christmas with a gold background.
