The scraps from one quilt become the basis of the second! And both were pieced using scraps from dozens of others. Quilt #1: Rocky Road to Kansas has 17" blocks for an 80" x 80" bed size quilt. The basis of the blocks were 6-1/2” squares of newsprint, stitched with strips and strings of scraps. I proceeded to slice and dice my way to sixteen 12” blocks. I set the blocks on point with setting triangles of red and blue. Now my blocks became 17” blocks and I had a different look altogether! The templates are included in the pattern, but you can also use a Kaleidoscope Ruler to cut the large triangles. Quilt #2: String Pieced Stars has 13-1/2” blocks with a quilt size of 55-1/2" x 72". The star points in this quilt are the leftover scraps from the Rocky Road to Kansas String Pieced Quilt. The star points are trimmed down to size with the templates I include here. If you have the Tri-Recs ruler, you can use this to cut the star points. These are NOT the same angle as the Kaleidoscope ruler. Two patterns in one for a well illustrated, step by step 13 page color pattern.
