Faith - I love that shawl. It reminds me of the baskets we used to weave - they were called tapestry baskets. I would love to buy this pattern if you ever put it down on paper.

Thank you all so much... I do teach intuitive knitting which is a combination of short rows, intarsia and free-form stitches, to create these pieces. I could give you a "recipe" but there are never any patterns for my work. This particular one has an added picot binding to accommodate the Betsy beads. Let me know if you want the basic outline...

Cast on 30 or 40 sts. Inc 2 or 3 at beginning of row using knitted cast on. Change colors on the right side only. Do random short rows throughout the piece until you reach the desired shape, width and length. Use picot bind off to finish. Add Betsey beads to i-chord varying lengths if desired.

that should read "each row". I don't see an edit feature here which would be helpful

I used random feather n fan stitch for the open work, added whenever it looked like it needed it. (yo, k1, rep 6 times, k2tog, rep 6 times) rep between ()'s till end

Faith, I have just come across this and I love the shawl. Gorgeous. Love the colours and use of short rows.
