First Toe Up Socks

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The moccasin toe is much easier than it looks. Getting both socks to look the same was my goal and even though I had to restart the second sock to use the proper part of the stripe repeat, I figured it out on my own. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take it slow and know that you can stop the video and return to it at any time. Stick with it.

What you will need

  • I used a self-patterning yarn - it does all the work. This pair was made with the moccasin toe and afterthought heel from the class with Donna Druchunas.

Q&A with Sewsalot

Susan Heinrich asked:
Your socks are beautiful. Good for you for sticking with it. It certainly paid off for you.
Sewsalot answered:
Thank you. I have collected a good amount of sock yarn and I plan to go crazy knitting socks!
Lizzie Lizzert asked:
They're great! what yarn did you use?
Sewsalot answered:
Thank you. This yarn was fun because it is "self-patterning". It is called Knitcol by Adrifil.
katieknit0 asked:
Sewsalot's your first pair looks great I wish I could do a pair that would come out that. Great
Sewsalot answered:
Thanks so much. It was fun following the Craftsy class on Toe Up Socks. I learned a lot and can watch the class as often as needed. The yarn made the stripes and designs, super easy on my part.
