These legwarmers were made specifically for a ballet dancer. The cotton knit very tight makes them stiff, which is great for ballet, but probably not fun for everyday. I chose cotton because it does not slip on tights, so they stay on even while dancing. Though this is still my daughter's favorite pair, I'm not sure I would do it again in the same yarn; it is quite hard on your fingers. So unless you are planning to make this for a ballet dancer, I would recommend using a wool blend. I have created my own patterns since I started knitting as a child. I'm not sure I can even say that, everything I made was mostly improvised. It was easier for me do that than trying to follow a design. Other knitters inspire me though. I love lots of patterns. I only use them as a starting point, to create my own. Though some of my patterns have been published in Knitcircus Magazine a few years ago, I am still only a weekend knitter. However, I try to write down some of my patterns. I also like to share them, it's nice to see others knit something based on my patterns. Sometimes I blog about my knitting projects at www.ré
