PATTERN DETAILS

I actually named this shawl after my brilliant, wonderful, incredible, beautiful, compassionate daughter, Melina! You brighten my life, every day. Thanks for being YOU! This is a beautiful, HUGE, lace shawl. Simple, yet elegant. The pattern repeats are easily memorized. The beads add just the right amount of sparkle and weigh down the featherlight yarn a bit. This shawl weighs next to nothing, but due to it being made of alpaca yarn, it is still giving a good amount of warmth. Several of my customers have made this shawl for wedding presents. What a great idea! Get the pattern, knit the shawl and get ready for the compliments. Gauge is not incredibly important for this project. Many thanks also to Knitty Lizzy on FB for testing this and many others of my patterns for me! YOU ROCK, GIRL!! My username is goddessofwhimsy on Raverly and my website is ramblingdesign.wordpress.com I am a freelance designer for many years now. I have designed for Plymouth yarns, Koigu, The Alpaca yarn company, Darn Good Yarn and many more. My designs have been published in Vogue knitting. At the moment I am looking for a company to take me on as their in house designer. I would love to be part of a team. I still do freelance designing and even custom knitting through my newly established designing firm Slipknot designs. I no longer sell the rights to any of my designs. I have been taught to knit when I was 5 or six, by my Grandmother in Bavaria, where I was born and raised. I have knitted and crochet on and off throughout the years. At 24 I came to the States, met the most wonderful of all husbands and needed something to do when the kids would take naps and my husband was at work. I also lived right across the street from a shop that sold yarn and needles and other crafty things. One afternoon I went and got myself some cotton and a crochet hook and the rest is history! I want to give a thanks to my husband at this point, who has put up with my antics over the years and has been encouraging me and believing in me always! Thank you baby! I love you! And to my children: I think you are the most amazing little monkeys around and I would not want to be without any of you ever again!
