PATTERN DETAILS

The design for this shawl was inspired by the enormous flower markets you can find in most large cities. The body is an all-over floral lace pattern and the border is reminiscent of bouquets of flowers, fresh from the market, still wrapped in newsprint. The Flower Market Shawl is a triangular shawl with a garter stitch border. It is knit from the center back to the bottom edge, with increases at each edge and along the center stitch. The pattern includes both chart instructions and full written instructions. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl increase decrease GAUGE 22 stitches and 35 rows/4 inches in the lace pattern of Chart B (after blocking). Gauge is not crucial since this is not a fitted garment but changes in gauge can affect both the size of the shawl and the amount of yarn required to complete it. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 51 in x 30 in (size is dependent upon gauge and how severely you block it)
