This is a really quick and easy pattern that uses a 'new' stitch (new only for beginners). A detailed explanation of stitch with photo tutorial are included. The pattern is written using U.S terminology, and comes with photos and a chart to explain procedures. The cowl is worked sideways, flat, from one side. Both the length and width of the cowl are easily adjustable - so you can make either an around-the-neck cowl or a lovely flowing Infinity Cowl. This lovely project can be made in ANY yarn and has been tested. This pattern has been tested using : a) 3-ply light fingering yarn ; 30 gms / 172 yds ; 4 mm crochet hook ; b) Jojoland superswash fingerling 3-ply ; around 300 yds, 4mm (G) hook Comments : Good photos & instructions, took 6-8 hrs Skill level by tester :part 1 beginner part 2 c) Nordlys, 65g, 4 mm crochet hook ; Gauge : 20 e-dc/4 inch; Comments : Instructions & photos clear, all explained well, took about 4-5 hrs ; Skill level by tester : Intermediate. d) Fyberspates Twizzle , Fingering/4-ply,72g (288 yards), 4mm crochet hook; Comments : Instructions & photos good, took about 8 hrs ; Excellent pattern, part 1 works up really quickly and it's worth spending a little extra time on making part 2 neatly to get the best results after blocking Skill level by tester :advanced beginner e) wool/cotton/acrylic blend, 135 yd per 50 gm (probably sport weight? not given on label & not online) , 314 yards of yarn ; 4 mm crochet hook ; Gauge: 37 sc across is 9 in. and 5 rows of edc are 4.25"; Comments : Instructions are good, and photos are very helpful. Your instructions for edc are excellent - I've tried this stitch before and never really "got it". Now I do! It really only took me 2 days to complete stitching - it was another 2 days before I had time to block. This is a fun pattern to work. It's very unique and yields a great, very wearable accessory! Skill level by tester: I would categorize as confident beginner or intermediate level, f) Sinfonia, 296m / 324yd ; 8/H/5mm crochet hook ; Comments :I clearly understood the main body instructions. The texturing instructions left me lost until I charted them out ; Skill level by tester :Intermediate g) Jo-ann Sensations Cuddle (discontinued), 2 oz which is 231 yards, G 4.00mm crochet hook ; Comments : Instructions seemed long, but I'm not sure that anything could be dropped. The photo tutorial was mainly what I used ; took roughly 8 hours. Skill level by tester : Easy BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY ch, dc, sl-st fsc knowledge good - but instructions in pattern GAUGE Gauge is not critical SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS free size but designer made cowl of 6.25" x 26" SUGGESTED YARN 200 yards of Fingering weight
