Yo-Yo Delights

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The fun had teaching workshops on how to make these. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time. Try several repeat and alternating patterns. Don't worry about beading distancees. Gently curve/fold your beaded thread in the arc you want. The last arc may need adjusting, but they usually just fall into place. As each arc is added, using the curving test before tacking the stitch helps. Bury finish knot at the center. Try rick rack, fancy yarns, etc. instead of beads. Bead the inside gathered circle too.

Q&A with robbinsue

quiltsandhearts asked:
new look for a traditional yoyo! love it
robbinsue answered:
Think of all the trims, which can be so expensive sometimes, around the edges. I have used yarn, upholstery edging, sea shells, and lots more. Try anything that comes to mind. Yo-yos require so litle fabric, it cannot count as waste when you are learning. Post your pics when you can. It will be wonderful to see what you come up with.
