XL Man's Tailored Shirt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The fact that I eventually got to make something special for hubby and he loves it so much. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you use this pattern to make a larger size shirt, I would definitely adjust the height of the pocket as on the larger sizes it sits too low on the garment. The pattern only has only placement line for the pocket which I thinks is wrong as it works well on my son's medium size, but is definitely out of place and too low on the XL I made for hubby. Also, the slit on the cuff in the instructions uses a rolled hem on one side and I did not like this method and rather replaced it with a placket and it is much stronger and neater.

What you will need

Hi!, Fabulous job!!! I love the color of the fabric and all of the details: collar, cuffs, sleeve plackets, etc. You should be very proud of your work, and I'm so happy that your husband loves his new shirt :-)) I hope that you were able to watch the tutorial I filmed for all of you for making the Tower plackets for the sleeves. My Blog info is mentioned in Class Announcements and it is also on YouTube for you to see. Thanks for posting yet another wonderful shirt! Pam

Hi Pam, thank you for the lovely comments. I was impressed because he said "it looks better than the ones I have bought in the store". High praise indeed. I did find and follow the tower placket tutorial - another great piece of teaching. Thank you once again. Michele
