Sheath Dress

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Princess Sheath Dress Link to website or photo silhouettepatterns.com/html/patterns/p_4200.htm What are you most proud of? The fit of the dress and how it drapes. Also, the fact that you can't see any of my hand stitching because it's all attached to the under layer. (Thanks for that tip Susan Khalje!) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make a muslin first in order to tweak the fit. Use long basting stitch lengths on seams of muslin to allow for easy rip out. Thoroughly read the pattern instructions as this pattern maker has specific construction advice that may be different than some of the outdated, conventional methods still in many commercial patterns on the market.

What you will need

  • Cotton eyelet fabric and matching cotton under layer.

Q&A with CatzSop

jdouglas1548111 asked:
I love your eyelet sheath dress, sew simple although I think I see prinsess lines for better fit. Jayne
CatzSop answered:
Thanks Jayne! Yes, it does have princess seams because of my pear shape figure challenges.
