What are you most proud of? I tried it. Failed a bit, but that like the teacher said - don't sweat imperfections. This is definitely imperfect, but I'll wear it. I like that I was able to stretch just the band as I sewed (good instructions on that) and that I gave it just the right amount of tension. It was nearly perfect and I can't believe I did it. I used the double needle to topstich. Good choice. It looks really nice. I used a regular double needle, but went out and bought the stretch double needle for next time. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Well, I sort of combined two methods into one. I'm also watching Sewing on the Edge which caused my measuring to go wrong (you can see my tricot sticking out in the back). The technique is a little different for putting bands around necks and I think I like the other way maybe a little better, but I do like the walking foot. If cutting your own tricot stabilizing tape, I cut notches into the sides so that I could manipulate the 'tape" (long strip of fusible tricot) around the curves easily. Maybe there's an easier way? I'd like to know. I would also like to try the Maxi Lock stretch thread. I looked in two different stores and could not find.
