Lace Insertion Navy Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Thanks to Katrina's help I was able to use a technique typically reserved for delicate seams and special occasion garments on a heavy, go-to dress. Also, I was very proud that I was able to match up the lace insertion on the side seams perfectly. The dress was nearly complete before I changed the style and I got lazy and didn't remove the original side seams. (yes I got lucky!) I'm least proud of the overexposed photo - I had to take it myself, in bad lighting. It was difficult to make the relevant details apparent. I apologize if anyone's eyes are burning :) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Definitely try this technique - there are so many beautiful insertions available and it's not limited to lace. I can see myself using a variety of insertions to create interesting seams and visual impact in the future.

What you will need

  • Navy blue cotton re-emroidered eyelet; white cotton 1 inch wide insertion lace.

Hurrah, it's the navy eyelet dress! Great thinking on the lace insertion - it really does have great eye appeal with the navy contrast. As Purdy said - fabulous!
JillStraw answered:
thank you! without your experience and insight it never would have come together without a hitch, it' so much fun to throw on and dress up or down, The lace seam will certainly get tested. Can't wait to try more of your techniques!!

Very very nice idea, makes the dress look less severe and lightens it up a lot.

Thanks karine! That's was just what I had hoped for in using this technique. I appreciate your feedback. :-)
