Jean-ius Reverse Engineered Jeans

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I really took my time with this project, something I wouldn't normally do. I paid attention to the tiny details, pressed every seam and trimmed every thread along the way. I'm not 110% happy with how the zip and button closure worked out but I'm a perfectionist and little flaws annoy the hell out of me when it's something I've constructed. However, when I look closely at the model pair of jeans, I notice other imperfections on supposedly 'well-made' garments and don't feel so bad! I'm so pleased with the final result and the skills I have learned along the way that I've already cut out my next pair: black trousers with hot pink top stitching!!! Wish me luck! The tips and skills I've learned in this course will be so useful in so many other projects, I can't wait to get my sew-jo on :) What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you're model jeans have any stretch, double and triple check your fabric for the same stretch. It can be quite confusing with the percentages and will make a huge difference to the fit even if it's only 10%.

What you will need

  • Dark Indigo Stretch Denim
  • navy blue topstitching thread
  • jeans zip and nickel jeans button
