Islander system jacket

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Although I had a lot of problems with my machine handling embroidery thread for topstiching, I really like the final result. I'm proud of the whole jacket, this is the first item of clothing I sew in more than 12 years. I'm getting back in the saddle and it feels good. I only used 5 pins for the entire project and my seams have never been so accurate! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go for it! It's a great class!

Great Job!!
MicheleGirard answered:
Thank you so much for the advice! 2 inches is exactly how much I thought I would lengthen the jacket, I'm tall, so it does look a bit short on me. The bust area has plenty of ease, I thought the dart would help get rid of the excess fabric coming from under the arm but that also may be caused by the fact that I have really narrow slopy shoulders....I'm working or figuring this out! :)

Awaiting my pattern in the mail. But you have inspired me to try embroidering the back, as I was going to use a remnant baby blue fabric I bought for "practice"...it would certainly turn my boring fabric into something cool. Would have to topstitch in a baby blue to not make it overly busy I guess, but I would still get topstitching practice...thanks!
MicheleGirard answered:
Oh wow, thank you for saying I inspired you, it's always wonderful to inspire someone :) Have fun making your jacket, this class is so wonderful!
