Helen's career version of Vogue 8815

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The fact that it fits so well. One of the best things I have learned is making adjustments for a rounded back. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Watch all the videos through before you start to give you an idea of what to expect. Start off by making the original version of the pattern and that way you will have made all the alterations to the pattern which makes making another version so much easier. I took Barbara's advice and took out some of the fullness from the peplum but think I took a little too much so when I make this again I will leave the peplum a little fuller.

What you will need

  • I used black linen and added a cotton trim to the neck line and bottom

Q&A with HellyH

Booboocitos asked:
Very svelte! ;-). Your advice above is great, too. I didn't even think about doing the pattern alterations in two steps, but I am super intimidated about changing the design AND doing the alterations at the same time bc it seemed overwhelming. But the two step process will wk better for me, too. That way I will be able to fully grasp and execute the initial changes for figure and then work on the design itself. Thanks so much for that idea!
HellyH answered:
So glad my advice was good for you. I would have struggled with doing the pattern alterations and an alternative version too. The original version is very pretty. Good luck with class I'm sure you'll love it. Barbara is so good at what she does and you will learn a lot
