Finished Couture Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? How much I have learned, the patience I had to complete the dress (2 months), being willing to hand sew 90% of the dress. The ability to pass on what I have learned to my friend who sews and has signed up for this course. Least proud that midriff lining does not match up at zip but was sewing til 3am!! But am pleased that midriff back of fabric material does line up at zip and that is what is seen by others - whew!! I was really pleased to think of adding snaps to the belt so that I can remove the buckle when laundering the dress. As I have to wear flats now and money is scarce I took a pair of velvet Mary Jane shoes and added pink rosebuds to them to match the dress. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have fun and keep going for the finished dress even when your fingers are bleeding ha ha!!!!!

What you will need

  • Cotton
  • imitation organza (never again - must be real silk organza or cotton)
  • polyester lining
