Couture Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I had never tried putting a zipper in by hand - great technique! Matching the print was a fun and exciting challenge. I'm thrilled with the outcome. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take it one step at a time, enjoy the process. Do not try to do this class with a deadline approaching. Do it for fun the first time. This dress took many hours!

What you will need

Q&A with pcampbell

hansity asked:
Very pretty. I like the piping at the midriff!
pcampbell answered:
Can't tell in the picture, but it is also piped around the armholes and neckline. It really finishes it off.
Janet Berry asked:
Great dress. I love cotton with a little spandex but its hard to find in such a great print. Did you find your fabric on line?
pcampbell answered:
no, actually at JoAnn's in town. It was with the stretch denims....weird place for it, but the print caught my eye.
dorothyr asked:
Lovely! Great job matching the print!
pcampbell answered:
matching was really fun - cutting it out single layered like was taught in the class made it much easier. I loved Susan's explanations.
Sandra83 asked:
Wow, thats inspiring, im 6.2 and good to see you adapt the pattern so well!
pcampbell answered:
I elongated the bodice - more in front than in bag and elongated the skirt portion

Excellent! You made so many great decisions with this dress. Your choice to do piping at the waist, careful attention to the fit around the arms, perfect hem length, the flattering print and colors with your complexion - all beautifully put together. Couture is about more than just technique; it is about putting it all together in a combination that looks fantastic on the wearer. You nailed it, and you look fabulous!
pcampbell answered:
Such a lovely post! Thank you!
