Project

Bargello Apron Top

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The overall look turned out just as I'd wanted. What advice would you give someone starting this project? To eliminate extra bulk at the waist of a patchwork design like this, the strips need to be smaller at the top than at the bottom. After cutting the strips, I tapered them so the top was approximately 1/4 inch narrower on each strip.

What you will need

Q&A with AllThatPatchwor

4bird2 asked:
Stunning I want to make one of these. Do you sell the pattern or did you sew it like I do things, create as you go? I've never seen anything like this. . . I love it! And the color palette includes all my favorite colors. mmmmm, nummy
AllThatPatchwor answered:
No, I don't sell the pattern, but feel free to copy the general idea. It was a one-of-a-kind creation. You can probably create one similar fairly easily if you are familiar with strip piecing. As I mentioned above, one thing I did different from normal strip-piecing was to taper the strip sets. Also for more comfort in wear instead of straight-fabric drawstrings going through the channels above and below the bustline, I used elastic through the center and fabric only at the drawstromg ends where it would show.
