50's Poodle Skirt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That it fit her well enough to wear even though she lived in another state and I sewed it without her here. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Measure twice, cut once. I measured the length from the wrong spot the first time and had to improvise to adjust things to work. Live and learn.

What you will need

  • 45" quilting cotton (60" would have been easier-less panels to cut and sew); 3" elastic for waistband; string of pearls for leash; felt and flannel for the dog; fabric/craft glue to attach them.

Q&A with tdj

camey37861756 asked:
how do I get this pattern?
tdj answered:
Hi, I didn't use just one source. I did an online search for 50's circle skirt and how to sew a circle skirt w/o a pattern. Here's several of the sites I used. I sort of read through or watched them all, then took the parts that made the most sense to me and used them when making the skirt. For the poodle, I just did an online search for poodle outline and printed it out, then cut it out of felt. I used felt for the fluff part and a cotton ball for the tail and a string of ;earls for the rope. This is the one I used: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/119626933829536032/ Hope that helps.
