This Baby's Life
My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was eight and it is something that has stuck with me all these years, guess it's like riding a bike, you never forget. Although it was fun to do and over the years I've picked it up a little here and there, nothing was ever really created from my crocheting skills. Now that all my kids have grown and are living outside of the house and I'm home more often I wanted to get back to doing something creative and thought, "It would be fun to learn how to knit". Well that opened up a can of worms because now whenever I see a yarn shop or a beautiful scarf, sweater etc it's like this obsession, I have to make something! Unlike a lot of people who get into working with yarn I don't have a prejudice towards either knitting or crocheting, they are both loved equally in this house. In a way it's a perfect relationship to have both skills because you can delve into so many more types of projects and be more creative. If you have a strong preference and are either an avid knitter or a colossal crocheting nut I'd like to encourage you to try going to the other side of that fence, in this case the grass is greener when you know how to do both! My Grandmother also taught me how to sew, in fact I now have the old, black Singer sewing machine she taught me on. Now I'm trying my hand and writing sewing patterns. My husband and I opened up a shop to sell some of these items we make and the patterns is good!
