I thought it would be simple. Starting a business in my home selling purses and tote bags. A creative outlet as I cared for my grandmother. After all, I had years of sewing and designing experience so it shouldn’t be difficult, right? But it was. For me sewing was the easy part. Finding the inspirational patterns to start my brand was the hard part. Most of the patterns I found on the market were either too old-fashioned looking or the instructions difficult to follow. So after two years of struggling to make it work I decided to stop, learn computer design, and craft my own patterns. Designing purse patterns with a professional appearance and "clean" lines is the approach to our brand. Next is to design the pattern that people of all sewing skills are able to tackle. We incorporate clear instructions and images of the actual bag in progress because we want the buyer to be successful in the process and absolutely love their bags! That’s what MergeBags is about. So with the help of my husbands’ business and marketing background we work out of our home studio together in coastal North Carolina.
