This roomy carryall features a zip-top panel that drops down inside when you just need an open-top tote for at-home errands. The tote folds flat so you can pack it in the bottom of your suitcase, then use it to pack your travel treasures for your return home. Fabric choices include lightweight outerwear fabrics, already-quilted fabric, or even tapestry for a dressier look. Dress it down for men; use a pretty print for women. The straps warp all the way around and under the bottom panel, making the tote a strong bag to load to the limit. It's the perfect carry-on, sized to fit in the overhead compartment. One outside pocket features a zipper for a handy and secure place to tuck your boarding pass and IDs while you wait at the checkout counter. Other outside pockets hold small items for your trip and an inside zipped pocket is safe and accessible storage for meds, change, keys, and cosmetics. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic sewing skills SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Open with zipper panel dropped inside: 15" (w) x 13" (T) x 6" (D) Zipped with zipper panel up: 15" (W) x 16" (T) x 6" (D)

I am a published sewing and quilting author with several books and many magazine articles to my credit. My most recent book, How to Make a Quilt, was published in August 2014 by Storey Publishing. I've written two other successful books for them-- The Quilting Answer Book and The Sewing Answer Book. I learned to sew from my great grandmother, two grandmothers, and my Mom when I was barely in grade school and I've been sewing ever since. I added quilting to my repertoire in the 1980s and worked for a major quilt book publisher as Managing Editor and then Editor-in-Chief for 5 years. Now I have my own business, designing quilts and tote bags and anything else that strikes my fancy. Go to to see my projects and whatever else I'm up to. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you'd like to make in my Craftsy store!
