I made this because I saw an oval version on a shopping channel and thought, "Hmm, I could make that." So I designed them and decided to use the EZ Circle Cut Ruler to make cutting out the pieces easier. I love that it has a dual purpose - it's an oven mitt and it also serves as a trivet. I adore the way that they are so easy to make - I can have a whole variety of colors and patterns to co-ordinate with my dishes and bakeware. Suggestions that you will love: Are you taking a dish to a party? Make a set of mitties for your hostess and leave them as a gift. Do your kids like to play kitchen or house? Make a set for play days (definitely re-size for little hands). You can omit the Insul-Bright for the play mitties to help reduce bulk on smaller sized Mitties (just don't let the kiddies use them near the oven).
