Pattern Details

When I used to sell bags at home parties I would very often encounter someone who had to have their bag closed at the top. Many wanted a full zipper. After trying many times to come up with a nice zipped closure, this is what I have settled on. The ends of the zipper are not exposed so zipper tabs are not necessary. These instructions will work to modify any straight topped or slightly curved bag. The exterior of the bag will remain the same while the inside of the bag lining is what will be altered. This does not include an actual pattern to cut out since every bag is different. The download will give you clear instructions on how to add in fabric for the enclosure and modify your bag. Zippers can be really confusing so as with any of my patterns, if you can't quite figure out a step feel free to email me with your questions. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Understand basics of sewing with a sewing machine. May be suitable for a beginner to intermediate. Basic bag construction knowledge will help but it's not necessary. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS This will recess your zipper into your bag approx 2".

Recommended with this pattern

  • Interfacing only if used on your bag pattern already. Can be done without too.
  • Zipper that measures the top of your bag
  • Additional 1/8 yard of fabric used on exterior of bag
