A small zippered bag is always useful, and is sometimes a necessity! Corralling small things in large handbags or totes is a challenge. Sometimes you just want a small clutch-type bag for an evening out. And this bag, when made as a gift, is a lovely and useful surprise! This zippered bag is so cute and versatile-it's the solution to many small-bag needs! You can purchase the downloadable PDF pattern HERE. Dressed up in brocade or silk it makes a great little evening clutch. Young ladies love it for proms and dances, too (if you're making the dress, make a bag to match!) Aren't the ruffles beautiful? They are a great opportunity to mix & match your fabrics. This is the perfect, beautiful make-up bag to carry in your purse, too. I make them as a hostess gift, Christmas gift, or a girlfriend's birthday. These (right) were made with decorator fabric samples. This zippered bag's pleated construction gives it an important feature that most others don't: it sits flat and opens widely when unzipped. I love that I can open it and see everything that's inside, unlike most flat zippered bags. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY You will need to gather ruffles, sew a zipper and make pleats SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 9" X 4"

I'm a designer and textile artist. My work has been featured in Stampington Press magazines. I designed many purses for a custom handbag store and sold one-of-a-kind bags, clothing and accessories at shows for years. I especially love working with vintage textiles---creating accessories or embellishing denim and other upcycled materials. I love the challenge of re-designing and re-using materials, rather than buying new whenever possible! Another aspect of my business is creating pictures/wall-hangings with fabric and creating unique memory quilts from clothing. These art quilts and memory quilts can be seen on my website,
