I saw this fabric in JUST FABRICS in Cranston, RI...but, didn't buy it, cause I didn't know what kind of quilt to make with it...yours looks great.
Colleen Woodley asked:
I'm a novice quilter. Fell in love with this material. Once I cut out the squares can you give me direction on getting them on the background?
I also am a relative novice, so I can only tell you how I did it. I decided how big I wanted the project and laid out the blocks that I had cut, leaving spaces between them. I then measured the spaces and cut strips from my background fabric adding about an inch to allow for seam allowances and mistakes in measurements. I started by adding the strips (called sashing) to the centre block. Then attached the side blocks to gather and added to the centre block. Then I created rows for the top and bottom and added these to the centre block. After that I added the border strips.
Were they machine appliqus?
These is no appliqu, it is all the material that I purchased,
I can't thank you enough for answering my query and sharing how your outstanding masterpiece came together.
You've given me the courage I needed to follow in your footsteps.
You are very welcome. Just remember one thing. Get started and do yours the way you want.
