USMC Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I had many times when I wondered why I had undertaken such a large project, but as the blocks came together and my husband became more involved in the construction of the blocks I knew I had to stay with the project. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Thoroughly plan out the quilt before you start. I had a rough idea of what I wanted, but as the block changed it required changes, thank goodness for my seam ripper, that if I had planned the entire project out it would have been easier. If you are using a standard machine be prepared for hefting a large amount of heavy fabric and the strain that it takes. I doubt I could have done this without QAYG because of the sheer size. Be prepared for a lot of repetition when you are building the blocks. Watch your measurements, I had to make many cuts because I made so many changes along the way. When I took the quilt to the FedEx office to send it to my brother-in-law I was very happy and very proud of what I had accomplished.
