Project

True Balkan Framed Square Quilt top

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The way the blocks seamlessly connect and carry the design true to the Balkan Framed Square - especially the corner to corner transitions. I was also pleased to find the Balkan Chevron pattern is a natural result of the true BFS quilt design. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make at least one sample block, perhaps more, before proceeding with an entire quilt. Had I done this I would have discovered how the centers of the squares come out. I don't like them and will now do another version with a different complimentary fabric. This time I'll make blocks and join a few before proceeding. I want to make a twin size spread to use when company comes and I want to be happy with the final product. I'll finish this top with a wide border in the circles pattern later.

Merrypal asked:
I love tonal fabrics. I feel you can use them in so many applications. Most of my stash is tone on tone. I really like this and I think it will be a very nice throw. I can't wait to see the new fabric and the design it renders. Keep going!
NanaJeanFL answered:

Love the color! One of the fun things about quilting is discovering the secondary patterns when you piece your blocks together.
NanaJeanFL answered:
You're right Darns. The more I work with this design that happier I am with the results.
