Sunset Sampler

What are you most proud of? I'm proud of stacking stitches, first couching the 7 mm wide silk ribbon with a ladder stitch, and then stitching over that with a variegated thread deco stitch pattern. I also found that a wide ribbon type alpaca yarn I couched looked a little dull so I satin-stitched down the center with 60 wt. poly thread whose variegated colors remind me of tiny beads. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Follow the video and let your imagination carry you through!

Q&A with Mary Beth Loup

Carol Ann Waugh asked:
This is a wonderful piece. I love how you did decorative machine stitching over the ribbon!
Mary Beth Loup answered:
Thank you Carol! I just finished quilting with Holoshimmer thread, which gives it a whole new dimension, both on the front and the contrasting black backing. In fact, I would like to mount it somehow so that both sides could be displayed. Is there a way to support it in a kind of open frame?
violamom asked:
This is my goal, It is as if visited my dreams
Mary Beth Loup answered:
Thank you, violamom! I look forward to seeing your projects.
