Stupendous stitch and slash bag

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I found it quite challenging but I finished it What advice would you give someone starting this project? Really read and re-read the pattern before starting, I slightly altered this to make it easier for me.

What you will need

  • I used Baticks for the front pocket and 100% cotton for the bag
  • lined in the same material
  • I also used fusible interfacing and fleece. with heavy weight interfacing for the bottom of the bag. I was finished with Rattal bindin and a large Dorset button

Q&A with Christinehuxter

Shoestring asked:
Christine--wow, I love this one! Beautiful work. Can you tell me about the single decorative medallion at the top? Is it machined embroidery? Looking forward to your feedback.
Christinehuxter answered:
Hi the button is a Dorset button which I make myself they are made on the brass curtain ring this one because I wanted a large on i did on a large split ring, hope this helps!
Shoestring asked:
Hi again there Christine. Oh that is such a cool looking button. I just love it, love it! I'd like to know more about Dorset buttons. Are they difficult to make?
Christinehuxter answered:
No they are really easy I am sure if you google you will find how to do them, there are lots of styles but I only know this one, it is only a case of wrapping the ring and making 6 cord across ( more on a larger button) then weaving in and out over and under the cord forward 2 and back over 1
