Rainbows and lilacs pieced quilt top

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The hand dyed batik color selections. The camera does not do them justice. One color flows into another in a rainbow effect. The 'rows' of french braid begin from the center lilac squares and are 'braided' to the bottom of the rows where they end in a lilac half square. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This pattern is based on the traditional "Log Cabin" pattern. It is an extremly EASY pattern. The top shown is king size.

Q&A with dottyeb

bdship4397 asked:
Love it, how can I get the pattern ?
dottyeb answered:
Here is a link to a great book with patterns. I took mine off of a quilt at a quilt show, but the ones in this book are very similar. Good luck.
kwiltnqueen asked:
beautiful quilt. I will be taking a class in Aug. My only worry is the color run. How easy is that.
dottyeb answered:
I like to triple wash all of mine prior to ever using for quilting. That way, you are assured the color will not run.
Bev B asked:
WOW What a pretty quilt. One of these days I will get the time & nerve to do one of these quilts. BB
dottyeb answered:
It is SUCH an easy quilt top. Goes together REALLY FAST! All it is is a modified Log Cabin. If you want to try a smaller version to see if you like it, go to this link and make a table topper.
