Practice blocks

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I created an art piece with leftover scraps. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Enjoy the freedom not using a ruler gives you. It is a very freeing process - I quite enjoy it. I'm looking forward to silk screening this quilt too.

What you will need

Q&A with KraftyChris

Judith Trager asked:
Looks like you've got the technique down, Chris. Are you proposing to use the blocks as a border for the moon-like structure in the middle? The blocks look very African and have lots of movement and rhythm. Let me see how it goes! Thanks, Judith Trager, Instructor Art Quilt Backgrounds
KraftyChris answered:
Yes, I'm having a great time with this technique - it is incredibly liberating. The quilt doees have an African feel to it - I'm torn between thinking the middle block could be the African sun or a Zulu shield. Will send photo when complete. One thing I've found interesting is that I've made 8 blocks altogether and 2 of them have come out square when I've pieced the triangles together. They're not as much fun to make as the ones that need wedges. Best regards
